Counseling Corner

The John Muir Middle School Counseling staff is dedicated to helping students meet their academic goals, enhance their social skills and mature emotionally during and beyond their middle school years. All told our three counselors bring over 66 years of professional guidance experience to their jobs. They are available 8 AM to 3:30 PM during school days.

Counselor Debbie Potmesil, pictured left, serves students who have last names beginning with A through J as well as all the students in the GEAR-UP program; her number is 618-4400 x3765.

Counselor Barbara Simons serves students K through M, her number is 618-4400 x3764.

Counselor Denise Farrell serves students N through Z; her number is 618-4400 x3769.

Parenting Resources

Math and reading help for kids: An extensive site devoted to helping parents contribute positively to their child's homework experience. All ages and grade levels are covered.

National Association for Gifted Children: The NAGC is a non-profit organization dedicated to the needs and interests of gifted children and their parents.
